The National Federation of State High School Associations NFHS (www.nfhs.org provides leadership and national coordination for the administration of interscholastic activities which enhance the educational experiences of high school students and reduce risks of their participation. The NFHS promotes participation and sportsmanship to develop good citizens through interscholastic activities providing equitable opportunities, positive recognition and learning experiences to students while maximizing the achievement of educational goals.
NIAAA -- The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association NIAAA (www.niaaa.org) was formed in 1977 to promote the professional growth and image of the high school athletic administrator, as well as to provide programs and resource materials to assist in the day-to-day responsibilities.
NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The NCAA is a voluntary association of about 1,200 colleges and universities, athletic conferences and sports organizations devoted to the sound administration of intercollegiate athletics. The NCAA strives to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the educational program and the athlete as an integral part of the student body.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SPORTS OFFICIALS NASO (www.naso.org) serves as the leading source of officiating information, programs and services. In January of 2002, the NASO Board of Directors approved the following new mission statement: NASO’s mission is to:
- Serve members by providing benefits and services.
- Improve officiating performance through educational programs.
- Advocate opportunities for officials and engage in programs to recruit
and retain officials.
- Create alliances with organizations that benefit from healthy officiating programs.
- Enhance the image of officials.
